Intro to the Gobi desert
The Gobi desert is located in Asia taking up part of southern Mongolia and northern China. It is also the 5th largest desert in the world covering 1.3 million square kilometers.Despite being a desert only 5% of the desert is actually sand dunes. It is a Cold Desert Biome (Biomes are defined as the world's major communities, classified according to the predominant vegetation and characterized by adaptations of organisms to that particular environment).
Although the Gobi seems like a inhospitable place with little resources to support life, it actually supports some nomadic cattle herding and the people in the Gobi despite the harsh conditions are known for their friendly hospitality.
