The Gobi desert has little rainfall throughout the year (less than 8 inches of rain). The temperatures range widely from −40 °F (−40 °C) in the winters and 113 °F (45 °C) in its summers as seen in the climatograph below. It is believed that the Himalayas have an impact on the harsh cold of the Gobi desert.
